WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?

Hypnosis is an altered/focused state of consciousness where the subconscious mind is in a state of so-called hyper-suggestibility, which results in an increased receptiveness and response to suggestion. The state of hypnosis can occur naturally, as well as ‘mechanically’ (created by the hypnotist). Hypnosis accesses the subconscious mind facilitating the use of techniques to unleash our true potential, change unwanted behaviours or habits and finally gain solutions to problems and concerns we are facing.

WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?

Hypnotherapy is a type of therapy in which the use of hypnosis constitutes a fundamental part of the treatment. Whilst it can be enjoyable to be in a state of hypnosis, just by itself the experience is not therapeutic. The hypnotherapy works with our unconscious mind (inner self) which stores ones resources and problems. Hypnotherapy uses therapeutic techniques during the state of hypnosis to maximise to goal of the therapy, challenge the unhelpful, unhealthy beliefs or gain insight. Hypnotic trance helps to achieve the results faster and smoother than conventional talking therapies.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HYPNOTHERAPY AND HYPNOSIS?

In short, hypnotherapy uses a hypnosis, offering clients amelioration of unwanted symptoms. Thanks to hypnosis therapy client achieves faster and more desirable results.

WHAT IS EMBRACE SELF THERAPY AND HOW COMBINED WITH HYPNOSIS IT CAN HELP ME?

Embracement becomes easier when you are truly honest with yourself. Here is how hypnosis can help with that.

‘Embrace self’ may sound like you are going to give up or stop efforts to improve yourself. But it is not that at all. Embrace self or if you like ‘self-acceptance’ is finally seeing yourself as you really are (and quite frankly that is a much nicer experience than it might sound!), is the essential beginning to becoming who and where you want to be.

Embrace self therapy gives you a solid foundation upon which to build yourself into who you want to become. Without that foundation, you may be building a house of cards. Embrace self therapy is not just about appreciating your good points – it is more about being honest about your less commendable traits – without feeling guilty or inadequate because of them.

Embrace self therapy combines elements from a vast number of different approaches (Hypnotherapy, Psychology, The Silva Method, Mindfulness and more)

Combined with hypnotherapy this approach offers quick and long (or forever) lasting results. It is a vast but not exclusive solution-focused technique, helping to address the root cause of problems, inevitably enabling clients to resolve even deep-rooted issues swiftly.

WHAT IS "NEST" EMBRACE SELF tHERAPY PROGRAM? - FOR YOUNG CHILDREN OR TEENAGERS

Parents, educators and therapists all want children to have a good sense of well-being, a positive attitude, self-confidence, resilience, good friendships, ‘efficiency/reach for the goal attitude’ and the ability to process emotions healthily (with a good pinch of gratitude thrown in to weigh the scale!). The concepts practised and taught during the NEST are what most would consider ‘common sense’, yet it sometimes takes a person other than an actual parent, to reinforce these ‘simple’ ideas that you are most likely already trying or tried to instil in your (sometimes resistant!) dear little loved ones. That is where NEST Embrace Self Therapy comes in!  NEST program uses a combination of techniques (psychology, hypnosis, mindfulness, NLP and more) to help young minds to take control of their emotional state and remain focused and confident while being challenged.

2. One person (therapist/coach) telling another person/s (the client/group) how they should live their life.

3. A prescription-based or one-size-fits-all mentality that doesn’t allow room for points of difference or individual experience.

WHAT HYPNOTHERAPY CAN HELP WITH?

Hypnotherapy is used to treat a wide variety of medical and psychological conditions, problems and experiences, anxieties, and habits that you wish to change. Hypnotherapy can help with: anxiety, stress, anger, performance problems, headaches, bereavement, stuttering, pregnancy & birth (hypno-birthing), low self-esteem, sleep problems, Tinnitus, tics, trauma, Bruxism, Exam stress and learning difficulties, weight control or smoking and more…Hypnotherapy is highly effective when working with children and can help alleviating issues that cancer patients are facing ( see hypno-oncology). Hypnotherapy can help you gain new insights, become more aware of inner resources, or even kick-start a new regime.

POSSIBLE CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR THE USE OF HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnosis may be contraindicated for individuals with certain medical problems, or who are ‘actively’ abusing drugs or alcohol. It is advisable to avoid hypnotherapy if you suffer from psychosis, unmanaged epilepsy or severe depression. The main reason in all contraindicated cases, is the inability to properly interact and establish effective rapport. Expert hypnotherapist, who will recognise the possible contra-indicator, will advise and/or suggest different options, more appropriate therapy

WILL I LOSE CONTROL DURING THE HYPNOSIS?

The short answer would be No. Although, you will become more open to suggestions when you get hypnotised, you will not do anything you don’t want to do while in the state of hypnotic trance. You will still have the awareness of yourself and of what you are being asked to do. And you will not do what you actually do not want to do.

ARE THERE DIFFERENT TYPES OF HYPNOTHERAPY?

As with any form of therapy, the genres vary. Within hypnotherapy exists Traditional, Eriksonian, Solution Focused, Cognitive/Behavioural, and Curative. Hypno/Psychotherapy, Hypnoanalysis, Hypnotherapy for children. Hypnotherapists actively tap into a different techniques for achieving desirable results (E.g.: Neuro-Linguistic Programming ‘NLP’, not a type of hypnotherapy, but a technique that hypnotherapists often employ within their practice. NLP is a learning model devised by Dr R. Bandler and J. Grinder and looks to help people help themselves reach a state of ‘excellence, happiness and state of mind’. Many hypnotherapists employ now their own therapy models and combine the types and techniques so that the client benefits best.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

We are all unique, with different brain and body chemistry. When we are affected by various health conditions, our suffering that differs one from another. On that point, we cannot fully recover from ‘anything’ in the same way and at the same time, consequently with the same number of sessions. It all depends on the nature of the condition, goal you wish to work or any new emerging problems. The hypnotherapist will establish the approximate number of session that is needed during the first consultation. For the most, it takes about 1 to 5 sessions to see substantial change. However, I cannot stress enough here, this always varies between the individuals.

ARE THE EFFECTS OF HYPNOTHERAPY PERMANENT?

The effects of hypnotherapy can be permanent or long-lasting with willingness and the cooperation of the client’s subconscious mind. Note, that your attitude and actions will highly contribute towards the desirable changes. When putting into work new ways of thinking and doing things you will be able to brush away old behaviour, thoughts or habits and move forward. Embracing self.

WHAT IS A SESSION LIKE?

Your first full session (not 15min preliminary consultation) will usually be a simple and friendly like, yet detailed discussion relating to your person (issue, condition, lifestyle, habit). We will proceed to converse about your desired outcome and focus on goals for the therapy as well as how hypnotherapy and which approaches may help. You will be free to ask any questions you may have including ones relating to hypnosis and hypnotherapy. The initial session will also include some hypnotherapy work. Finally, it will conclude with suggestions on what tasks or activities (so-called homework 😉 ) may work best to support the Hypnotherapy treatment (to be agreed upon for the best result).

NEST & REST Therapy programs booked for a group (children, educators, NHS staff, corporate) will start with similar to the above manner, however, will focus less on the individual and a little more on the group. Having said that, each and every participant will be guided on how to achieve the best possible outcome. These programs usually run for 3-6 weeks. (Please refer to the Services section to learn more about the NEST & REST programs).

WHY CLIENT HOMEWORK IS SO IMPORTANT?

Homework can enhance and reinforce the work you did during the session. You might be asked to develop some tasks or perform activity that you can do between the sessions. This often will reduce significantly the amount of sessions that you actually need! To be more specific, hypnotherapy homework might be a combination of breathing exercises, self-hypnosis or simply keeping a diary.
